Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You)
Here is yet another video from my earlier years. I would always be out on the dancefloor for this song with my friends Doug and Brandon. Before I came out, I was a huge U2 fan. Joshua Tree was one of my favorite cd's at the time. So after I had came out, I instantly fell in love with this remake of an awesome U2 song. Of course, I already loved the Pet Shop Boys anyways! :)
About 4 or 5 years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing the Pet Shop Boys in concert in Chicago. It was in an old theater that had the seats removed. The floor was open and slanted down to the stage. We started the concert about 20 feet back from the stage. But by then end of the night, we had worked our way up to maybe 5 feet back. The concert was awesome. The night was awesome. The Pet Shop Boys were awesome. It was just one of those nights that will live in memory forever as one of the best nights ever.
Pet Shop Boys - It's A Sin / I Will Survive
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I first saw this on a Pet Shop Boys dvd of a concert. I think I have seen maybe three or four different versions of this mix by them, including one I saw live in concert in Chicago. It always brings tears to my eyes when I hear it....very powerful!
My Album
Concert Tour
Tonight I was trying to remember all of the concerts I have seen. Some were excellent...some weren't so great.
GREAT
Bette Midler (saw her 2 times....she was pure entertainment)
Tina Turner (damn, she can dance and sing!)
Pet Shop Boys (Excellent show!)
Cyndi Lauper (saw her 2 times....AWESOME! and AWESOME!)
Cher (saw her 3 different times)
Dolly Parton (beautiful voice with a beautiful soul)
Janet Jackson (WOW!)
GOOD
GoGo's (this was their reunion tour around 2002)
Alan Jackson/Martina McBride (Martina was good...not a big Alan Jackson fan)
Donna Summer (She would have been in the great list if we hadn't missed over half the concert)
Heart (back in 1988 probably)
Jackson Browne (I saw him when I was probably 7 years old...my dad really wanted to see him)
BAD
White Snake (don't ask why!)
Other shows I have seen:
Margaret Cho (so funny I almost peed my pants!)
Broadway Musicals I have seen:
Evita (I love this show)
Lion King
Wicked (great show)
Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat
Here is an 80's song that really sums up my teenage years. I grew up in a very small town of 800 people. During my teenage years, I was pretty sure I was the only gay person for miles around. Even though I found out much later that there were a few other gay people, I still feel that small town living sucks.
You leave in the morning, With everything you own, In a little black case.
Alone on a platform, The wind and the rain, On a sad and lonely face.
Mother will never understand, Why you had to leave.
But the answers you seek, Will never be found at home.
The love that you need, Will never be found at home.
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.
Pushed around and kicked around, Always a lonely boy.
You were the one, That they'd talk about around town, As they put you down.
And as hard as they would try, They'd hurt to make you cry.
But you never cried to them, Just to your soul.
No you never cried to them, Just to your soul.
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.
Cry , boy, cry...
And here is a remix, Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy mixed with Madonna - Perfect Stranger
A Christmas Party and A New Date :)
Last night (January 6th) the store I work at held a Christmas party. It is a little late for the party, but I am used to that from when I worked at the bar and catered. Both jobs were super busy until after the new year, so we always had our celebration after the 1st. The surprising part is the fact that I have worked for this same company for 5 years and this is the first party they have had for us. So that was nice.
We were allowed one date for the party. I took along a guy I have been chatting with online for a few weeks now. I was quite a bit nervous, it has been many years since I have been on a real date. The last 2 relationships I have been in both just happened, no real dating involved. There was a small amount of dating before the last one, but nothing serious. So on the way to the Christmas party, I stopped to pick up G (the new date). I have only seen a few pics of him before last night, and he is a very good looking guy. I was very nicely surprised when I picked him up last night, he is a real hottie! :)
So we went to the company shindig, had some drinks (PLEASE!!! No more Mojo!!!) ate some good pizza and had a good time. We went back to his place to chat for awhile. It is always nice to meet somebody for the first time and like them right away. Overall, I had a great time...and I hope he did too.
2008 part 2
I did join the YMCA today! :) I didn't get enough time to workout though. But tomorrow I will go in before work and do some. My goal is to lost about 30 pounds by my birthday (June 7th). So far in the past 2 months, I have lost about 40 pounds. But I have hit that plateau and can't seem to move on. So I am going to start going to the gym again. I also want to start eating better. I have gotten into a bad habit when and what I eat. I am not a good diet person, so I don't want to put limits on myself like that. But just try and be more aware of how often and what I am eating.
As for other goals for 2008, my partner and I are in the process of going our separate ways. So I am currently in the process of finding a new place to live. My goal is to move most of my stuff into a storage shed within the next few weeks. And when I get my tax refund (probably mid February), to move totally out. It will be hard to leave this house, this is the first time in quite a few years that I have felt like I had a home.
I still need to start selling off a lot of the Fiesta I have been collecting. I still have quite a collection of Post 86 in a closet downstairs. These are mainly odds and ends that local stores have had on clearance. Some discontinued colors in there. Also some stuff I bought when a local store went out of business. I am thinking about starting to weed out my Vintage Fiesta collection too. I love the look of the dishes, but I have never used my vintage for anything except display. I have so much post 86 dishes that I use, I don't ever feel like using the vintage.
Another goal I have is to start being more sociable. Not that I am totally friendless, but I know that I am a very shy person. I am going to start by trying to post more often on this blog. I also would like to start meeting some of the people from the Fiesta message boards. I am hoping to attend the HLCCA conference in Minnesota this summer. It would be my first time if I make it. But with me moving out on my own, money will be tight....so I will have to really try and save up for it.
